Having moved from London several years ago, we now live in the beautiful Somerset countryside on an old farm. I have refurbished and updated old furniture for years and can turn my hand to most things. I specifically started working with vintage bowls a year ago, when a friend asked me what she should do with her new bathroom. I had just bought a lovely old bowl which I converted into a sink as a the starting point for the new look to her room.
I then did the same to all the bathrooms in our house and after being asked to do this, repeatedly, by friends and then friends of friends, I started sourcing bowls. As well as converting vintage bowls, I also redecorate and convert old furniture to create beautiful tables, stands, dressers, drinks cabinets, whatever we find that will work - into housings for the vintage bowls in their new reincarnations as vessel sinks.
I realised that other people love the marriage of old and new as much as me and so began Hollow Tree Studio. I spend many hours trawling antiques fairs, auctions and country house sales and clearances to find bowls and furniture that are unique and beautiful and crying out to be loved once again. I love working closely with clients to find the perfect bowl and create the perfect setting for it be housed in. Working from the studio at home allows me the space and freedom to spend time on every commission.
